Direct Simulation Of A Mach 1 . 92 Jet And Its Sound FieldJ

چکیده
A perfectly expanded turbulent Mach 1.92 jet was simulated by direct numerical solution of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in a computational domain that included the near acoustic eld. Reynolds stresses, two-point correlations, and turbulent energy spectra are computed and discussed. The sound eld is highly directional and dominated by Mach waves as are commonly observed experimentally. Analysis of the sound using weak-shock theory shows that non-linear eeects are signiicant away from the jet, but that linear theory is suucient to estimate near-eld sound pressure levels. Sound pressure levels are compared with experimental results and are found to agree very well with jets at similar convective Mach numbers.

Direct Numerical Simulation of the Noise from a Mach 0.9 Jet
A Mach 0.9 jet at Reynolds number 3600 is simulated along with its radiated sound by direct numerical solution of the flow equations. The numerical simulation is shown to be in excellent agreement with experimental measurements at the same flow conditions. Basic turbulence and sound statistics are presented and analyzed. Pressure data is Fourier transformed in the streamwise direction and in ti...
متن کاملUse of Stochastic Turbulence Models in Jet Acoustics
There are many approaches to determine the sound propagated from turbulent flows. In hybrid methods, the turbulent noise source field is computed or modeled separately from the far-field calculations. To have an initial and quick estimation of the sound propagation, less computationally intensive methods can be developed using stochastic models of the turbulent fluctuations. In this paper, ...

In this study, the missile staging process by implementing a side-injected jet is simulated numerically. The problem is considered to be axisymmetric and the thin shear layer approximation of Navier-Stokes equations along with an algebraic turbulence model is used in a quasi-static form for the calculations. The free stream corresponds to a very high altitude flight condition with a Mach number...

متن کاملComparison of different turbulence models in a high pressure fuel jet
In this study, modeling of a fuel jet which has been injected by high pressure into a low-pressure tank are investigated. Due to the initial conditions and the geometry of this case and similar cases (like CNG injectors in internal combustion engines (ICE)), the barrel shocks and Mach disk are observed. Hence a turbulence and transient flow will be expected with lots of shocks and waves. Accord...
